Labor Day weekend in Fort Bragg means Paul Bunyan Days, the oldest small town festival on the Mendocino Coast.

Named for the bigger-than-life logger and his giant blue ox, the festival celebrates our history and pays tribute to the strength of the people who live here.

This year’s theme, “All Aboard! Paul and Babe ride the Skunk Train to Willits” commemorates 100 years of riding the Skunk through the redwoods to Willits.

Paul Bunyan, the larger-than-life folk hero, joins us live-and-in-person. Watch for him – say hello, heft his giant ax, or snap his picture. He’s at all the events: the action-packed logging show, community parade, tricycle race, kiddie games & kiddie parade, historic dress review, ugly dog contest, craft fair, classic car show, gem & mineral show, fish fry, fireman’s water-fight & fancy dress ball. Paul also crowns the Belle of the Redwoods and makes certain Kangaroo Kort sheriffs don’t get too rowdy. Whew… when does he sleep?

Events are free, or practically free, so everyone can come. The Paul Bunyan Days Association organizes it, community sponsors pay for it, and volunteers make it happen.
