The Roots of Motive Power will transport you to a time when hard-working men converted Giant Coastal Redwoods into lumber to rebuild quake damaged West Coast cities. Roots of Motive Power, a Ukiah based volunteer organization, will share their love of logging history and the steam-powered machinery that shaped it. 
Antique logging equipment will steam to life, providing a thrilling hands-on, interactive experience for kids of all ages. There will also be an array of tools once used to log high timber and historical photos of towering giant forests and loggers of long ago.
The Exhibit is Saturday and Sunday, September 3rd and 4th. On Sunday the Exhibit runs concurrently with the Logging Show, a lively event where more than a thousand people cheer their favorite competing lumber-jacks-and-jills.
