Native Daughters of the Golden West invite you to take a walk in the redwoods with Paul Bunyan at Otis Johnson Wilderness Park at the end of Laurel Street 3:00pm Saturday Sept. 1st.
This seven-acre park offers shady walking trails, a close-up nature experience and easy access to giant coastal redwoods.
A recent restoration and re-vegetation program brings ecological integrity back to the wilderness areas and expands visitor facilities. The Park has been rescued from exotic plants that escaped neighborhood gardens. It’s also enjoying new trail-side retaining walls and new wooden footbridges on the upper and lower trail stream crossings. Areas with significant erosion have been rehabilitated through creative bioengineering methods that utilize native materials and native plant communities are steadily replacing the invasive exotics.
