Bird Walk

Join the Mendocino Coast Audubon Society for a guided Beginners Bird Walk at the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens on Saturday, September 2nd.

Participants meet the parking lot at 9:00 a.m. for a walk that will focus on the departing summer species as well as the newly arrived wintering species that grace the gardens.

With some luck we may also find a few birds, such as the Wandering Tattler, that are passing through on their way south.

The Botanical Gardens contains a variety of habitats that attract many bird species, from hummingbirds to pelicans.

Local birder Dave Jensen will lead the walk from the flower garden, through the native forest, and out to the coastal headlands. Although the pace of this walk is designed for beginning birders, persons with all levels of experience are invited.

The walk will end at noon, but participants are welcome to remain in the Gardens after the event. Binoculars will be available, and the Gardens offers electric scooters for those with limited mobility. The Bird Walk is free to Gardens members and non-members pay a reduced fee when attending these walks.
